Obsidian and wenge

This is Connla’s blade, the final piece in the obsidian series.

It’s named after the son of the Ulster champion Cú Chulainn and the warrior woman Aoife.
This is the smallest of the three obsidian blades measuring 4”, it’s an almost completely translucent smoky color with just the slightest hints of black ribboning running through it. It’s joined with black artificial sinew and heavy duty epoxy to a long tapered hand carved handle of a single piece of exotic wenge wood. This wood, with its beautiful striped grain, is sculpted into a spiraling flowing form that blends organically into the stone blade. It’s finished with multiple coatings of tung oil giving it a gorgeous finish while retaining its organic character.
Overall it measures over 10.5” long and with its uniquely carved handle and blade it will become the center piece to any sculptural or knife collection.
